Rappelz, a 3D “creature revolution” MMORPG developed by Gala Lab, the subsidiary game studio of the Gala Group, is now targeting the newly rising Brazillian market. Through Gala-Net Brazil, a local branch of the Gala Group, Rappelz‘s first CBT was carried out this November. After having successfully completed its CBT, Rappelz is now looking forward to launching the first OBT. In the last CBT, Rappelz disclosed a variety of its contents, including the “Creature Reinforcement System,” where the “creature,” referring to a gamer’s avatar, will turn into a stronger creature. Brazillian gamers showed a lot of passion toward Rappelz; an explosive number of “mentions” came through Rappelz ‘s Twitter account (http://twitter.com/rappelzbr).
According to Gala Lab, the Brazillian online game market is showing a rapid growth rate as the internet infrastructure is going through improvement. The focus is now shifting from console and video games to online games. Brazil is indeed an attractive market with much potential for Korean online games, and Gala-Lab has thus been carrying out aggressive marketing strategies to lead Rappelz to success in the new market; During the CBT period, Gala-Net Brazil awarded PlayStation 3 to gamers who reached the highest level, and provided game items to those who joined Rappelz‘s Facebook page, Twitter, and Orkut (the most popular community site in Brazil).
Rappelz is currently published in North America and Europe respectively through Gala-Net, a leader in the game publishing business for the North American market and the Gala Networks Europe. In South East Asia, AsiaSoft published the game as RappelzSEA (currently out of service). The Arabic version of Rappelz is being serviced through Gamepower7, a local publisher for the Middle Eastern market.
